Cool way to beat the heat at Le Tour de Langkawi

Outdoor, sports and fitness concern Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn Bhd (UFL) has announced its role as sponsor for the 2019 installation of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL).

The internationally renowned cycling event has been an annual staple in the national sporting events calendar and will see Igloo, the top cooler brand in the world, as its official cooler box this year.

Igloo has been exclusively distributed by UFL in Malaysia since 2016.

“Igloo is the largest manufacturer of cooler boxes in the world. This year for LTdL, we will be providing two cooler models amounting to RM25,000 in total sponsorship value,” said UFL managing director Datuk Radha Krishnan.

“With Igloo coolers, it’s as though you have a portable fridge with you on the go. I can say with full confidence that beverages and refreshments served from our coolers will remain cold and

fresh during the race and will quench the thirst of anyone, especially during this hot spell,” he added.

No stranger to the sports industry, UFL is known to be largely proactive in sponsoring and co-organising local sporting events.

UFL has also collaborated with LTdL during the inaugural event in 1997 and subsequent years.

“This national sporting event has gained global recognition and widespread international exposure over the years thanks to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who breathed life into it many years ago.

“ We are humbled by our participation as sponsors and vow to always play a role. We very much want to be a part of this event for many years to come, and hope that this year’s event is a huge success.

“Kudos to the organisers who have kept the event alive and well for all these years,” said Radha.

LTDL technical race director Geoff Kronenberg said, “We are happy to have UFL back on board providing cooler boxes for the event.

“Each team will be equipped with Igloo coolers which will be used to supply riders the essential needs such as water, refreshments and nutrition to stay hydrated and nourished throughout the race.

“We are grateful for UFL’s continued support and Igloo will be LTdL’s cooler box of choice moving forward.”
