PUTRAJAYA: The Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is ready to meet the National Shooting Association of Malaysia (NSAM) to discuss the national shooters’ failure to get even one qualifier for the Olympics for the first time since 1984.
The national shooters failed to make the cut in their last opportunity at the Asian Shooting Championships which ended on Monday.“I think we need to go back to the drawing board and there is a lot of work to be done, especially in the welfare of the shooters and the athletes, ” said Syed Saddiq.“Maybe, the intensity of the training has to be increased.
“I will meet with the association and NSC (National Sports Council) and see what changes can be made to achieve a higher performance, ” he said after the launch of the “Team Mas” Sports Brand at the Youth and Sports Ministry building yesterday.
Universal Sports Leisure (UFL) displayed several designs for their new line of sports attire and equipment under the Team Mas brand.
“The idea behind Team Mas was to create a national sports identity on the local and international sporting stage, ” said UFL managing director Datuk V. Radha Krishnan. The line will hit the stores beginning next year.
